Installation Guide
The Interact Anything Framework is engineered as a clean, self-contained architectural foundation natively built for Unity 6.0+. It is entirely free of third-party asset dependencies and is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing projects without forcing structural overrides to your cameras, character controllers, or input managers.
1. Importing the Framework
Standard Package Import
- Open your Unity 6.0+ project.
- Navigate to Assets > Import Package > Custom Package... in the top menu bar.
- Select the
InteractAnythingFramework_v1.0.0.unitypackagefile you downloaded. - In the Import Unity Package window, ensure all scripts, prefabs, and UI assets are checked.
- Click Import. The framework will unpack into
Assets/MyDreamGameStudio/InteractAnything/.
2. Dependencies & Input Systems
Because the framework centralizes hardware input through its own dedicated router, it requires zero external dependencies from the Unity Asset Store.
- Input System Compatibility: The framework works out-of-the-box with Unity's modern Input System. If your project utilizes a custom mobile controller or a third-party solution like Rewired, you can safely bypass the default polling and route your events directly into the
InteractionInputSingleton. - Physics & Collisions: Target resolution relies exclusively on Unity's built-in 3D Physics engine. Ensure your project's layer matrix is configured to allow raycasts and overlap spheres to hit your intended interactive objects.
3. Render Pipeline Setup (URP / HDRP)
The core interaction logic, state machines, and mechanical drivers execute purely through C# and are 100% render pipeline agnostic.
The framework will function flawlessly whether your project uses the Built-in Render Pipeline, the Universal Render Pipeline (URP), or the High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP).
Upgrading the Example Prefabs
The framework includes optional visual prefabs (such as UI canvases, debug markers, and sample examine items). By default, these utilize standard materials. If you are using URP or HDRP and these example models appear pink, utilize Unity's automated material converter:
For Universal Render Pipeline (URP)
- Navigate to Window > Rendering > Render Pipeline Converter.
- Select Built-in to URP from the dropdown.
- Check Material Upgrade, click Initialize Converters, and then click Convert Assets.
For High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP)
- Navigate to Window > Rendering > HDRP Wizard.
- Scroll down to the Project Migration section.
- Click Upgrade Project Materials to High Definition Materials.
Next Step: Now that the framework is installed and your materials are configured for your active pipeline, proceed to the 5-Minute Quick Start to construct your first interactive object.
